Chicken Pox During Pregnancy

Chicken pox during pregnancy can cause complication an increase risk of complications to the mother and the infant, but risk of complication is very low.

Chicken pox is highly contagious disease which caused by varicella-zoster virus, commonly affects children, particularly those under age 12. Although this disease is a childhood illness, adults also can affected the disease that caused by varicella zoster virus.

Adults generally had chicken pox before, and have lifelong immunity from varicella - zoster virus. Up to 95 percent of adults in the United States are immune, including many people who had chicken pox and never even knew it.
